Ten Supreme Court lawyers have sent a letter to the High Court seeking the security of life of recently laid off Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) official Sharif Uddin.

The letter was sent to the High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman, and the Registrar General of the Supreme Court on Sunday.

In the letter, the lawyers, led by Mohammad Shishir Manir, asked the High Court to issue a show-cause notice asking the ACC to explain why it has sacked the official.

“The court may hold a hearing on Tuesday on the letter considering it as a writ petition”, said Shishir Manir.

On February 16, ACC gave Sharif Uddin stand release as per 54 (2) of ACC (staff) rules, 2008.

Sharif Uddin had reportedly been conducting investigations into corruption allegations against different offices and hospitals.
