Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College added a 200-bed ward on Sunday to serve dengue patients as the outbreak continues, reports UNB.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the dengue ward containing 100 beds for male and as many for female patients.
During the inauguration, he said, “The number of dengue patients has started to fall.
We’ve introduced the 200-bed ward as a cautionary measure.”
An initiative has been taken to admit dengue patients to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute while Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital is being readied for taking in dengue patients, he said.
Minister Maleque also requested the media to raise awareness among the people.
Health Services Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam, Secretary of Medical Education and Family Welfare Division Shaikh Yusuf Harun, and Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Prof Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present.
