Stopovers of trains at Brahmanbaria Railway Station will remain suspended until further notice following the attack in the station, an official of the Railway Ministry said on Saturday.

Several hundreds of madrasa students in Brahmanbaria on Friday protested over the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi by setting fire to many government establishments in the district including the railway station and damaged the signal system of train service.

Talking to The Financial Express, senior information officer of Railway Ministry Shariful Alam said “Until further notice, no train will stop at the station”.

Trains will again stop at the station once the signal system is restored, he added.

Train communication between Dhaka-Sylhet, Dhaka-Noakhali and Dhaka-Chittagong resumed around 12:30 am on Saturday after eight hours of disruption. Seven trains were stuck at different stations on these routes.
