State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga has said there would be 100 per cent electricity coverage in Gangachara upazila by 2018.
"As per pledge of the present government, not a single village would remain without electricity," Ranga said at an Iftar and Doa mahfil held on Gangachara Degree College ground in Rangpur district on Monday evening as the chief guest.
Gangachara upazila unit of Jatiya Party (JP) organised the function with its President Md Shamsul Alam in the chair.
Ranga adds that very soon all roads of Gangachara upazila town would be illuminated powered by eco-friendly solar panels and boasts about the success of the present government, its relentless efforts to reach electricity to every doorstep by 2018.
He said, "I have been working for uplift of Gangachara upazila where widespread development has taken place in all sectors including roads, river-ghats, schools, colleges, madrasas, mosques, temples and other institutions."
"We will implement the remaining development works in the future and for this, the present government should be voted to power again in the next general elections," Ranga said.
President of Rangpur city JP and mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, joint general secretary of district JP Alhaj Abdur Razzaque, chairman of Sonic Prime Group Professor Dr Akkas Ali Sarkar, general secretary of Gangachara Upazila JP Abul Kalam Azad, addressed the function as special guests, reports BSS.
