Spreading happiness through Project Trishna

Project Trishna, a venture of Footsteps Bangladesh, is working extensively to ensure access to safe water for the marginalised communities in the country.

Since 2015 Project Trishna has been working to create water accessibility by installing filtration units in government and non-government schools where safe water availability is very limited due to high levels of contamination, said a press release.

Besides providing water facilities to school children, thousands of people in several public places and government hospitals have been served every day through the water filtration units that Footsteps has provided.

Since last year, the project has expanded its operation by setting up tubewells in rural communities where the people struggle to meet their daily need for water in their regular activities.

To date, Footsteps impacted the lives of over 3,00,000 people in 27 different districts through its projects.

Like every year, Footsteps has launched a month-long campaign in this holy month of Ramadan where they are accepting donations and Sadaqah from mass people.

Taslima Begum is one of the beneficiaries whose family has been provided with a tubewell by a portion of the fund's Footsteps collected from last year’s campaign.

“I am living with my four sons and husband in this village for several years. My husband works as a day labourer, therefore he never has a steady flow of income. As a result, it is quite difficult for my husband, who is the sole breadwinner in our family, to support a family of six.”

That is why Taslima Begum could never be able to save enough money to set up a tubewell for her family.

“Last year a team of local volunteers from Footsteps visited our place and after hearing the difficulties we had been facing for years to get water, they offered to set up a tubewell for us. My husband and I were extremely overwhelmed and happy to have this. Now my kids don’t have to go to our neighbour’s place to fetch water,” Taslima shared.

There are more stories like Taslima you will find in Kushtia who were supported with water accessibility through Project Trishna last year.

This year, Footsteps is working diligently with an aim to ensure water accessibility for 500,000 people across Bangladesh. The platform is looking for donations to spread happiness among the people who need it.
