Special prayers offered for plane crash victims

Special prayers were offered at different religious institutions, including mosques, across the country on Friday for victims of recent plane crash in Nepal.

A special munajat was held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Juma prayers.

Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dhaka City (South) AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, and Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal also took part in the special prayers.

Earlier on Thursday, the nation observed a one-day state mourning with due solemnity in memory of the victims of the plane crash in Kathmandu, Nepal.

According to UNB, the national flag was hoisted half-mast at all government offices, including the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Bangladesh Secretariat, High Court and educational institutions, across the country.

The US-Bangla Airlines flight which flew from Dhaka to Kathmandu carrying 67 passengers and four crew members, crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on Monday, leaving 50 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, dead.

Of the dead, 22 are Nepalese and one is Chinese.
