Six month-long education programme launched

A six-month long education programme was inaugurated, along with a seminar “Teachers: Leadership in Crisis, New Thoughts for the Future” over a video conferencing platform.

The programme was arranged on Monday with the participation of national and international teachers on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of our Father of the Nation ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’ and International Teachers Day 2020.

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni joined the function as the chief guest and inaugurated the event.

The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Aspire to Innovate (a2i), Programme of the ICT Division and the Cabinet Division, supported by UNDP jointly organised the programme.

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury joined the event as the special guest.

Md. Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary, Technical and Madrasah Education Division and Beatrice Kaldun, Head of the Office and UNESCO representative to Bangladesh also were present at the function.

This year, the World Teachers' Day is being celebrated with the theme 'Teachers: Leadership in Crisis, New Thoughts for the Future.’

At the function, Dr. Dipu Moni said, “This year our country is celebrating the centenary of our mentor, the greatest ever Bengali, Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh has always aimed to build a society and nation based on science and knowledge. Only a teacher can inspire everyone to learn.”

Mr Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said that Bangabandhu emphasized on the importance of education and allocating adequate budget to the education sector in the national budget.

Mr Beatrice Kaldun said, “We are continuing our efforts to do something new in the field of education. In such crisis, the government and the teachers can take the education programme a long way.

It is through this policy that Bangladesh has undertaken various activities during the corona period, which has created a new energy in educational activities in Bangladesh. He continued to thank Bangladesh for their effort in the sector”.

Mr Md. Aminul Islam Khan said that like the rest of the world, we have tried to resolve the crisis in the education sector by taking new initiatives
