Sinha killing: Three witnesses put on four-day remand

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday took the three witnesses in a police case into their custody on a four-day remand for questioning them in a case filed over the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

The three witnesses are: Nurul Amin, Mohammad Ayaz and Nizam Uddin, reports BSS.

A team of RAB took them from Cox’s Bazar district jail around 11 am for interrogation in second phase, Cox’s Bazar Jail Super Mokammel Hossain said.

On August 25, Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah granted a four-day remand to each as law enforcers produced them before the court after completion of the seven-day remand while Investigation officer (IO) of the case and RAB senior superintendent of police Khairul Islam pleaded for another seven-day remand each afresh.

The RAB arrested the three witnesses from Marishbunia village on August 9 and they were put on a seven-day remand on August 12.

Major (retd) Sinha was shot and killed by police at a check post in Baharchara area in Teknaf.

Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous later filed the case against nine including Teknaf Police Station officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das and sub-inspector Liakat Ali.
