Two specialists of Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital arrived in Dhaka on Sunday evening to assess the condition of ailing Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

The doctors landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this evening by an air ambulance.

Then they came to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) directly from the airport, BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua said, reports bdnews24.com.

Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary, also the information minister, Hasan Mahmud said: “The specialists will observe his condition. He will be taken to Singapore today if his condition permits.”

The 67-year old Quader, the road transport and bridges minister, was admitted to the hospital early in the morning.

He has three arterial blocks and one of those has been removed by stenting, according to BSMMU Cardiology Department Prof Syed Ali Ahsan, who is leading a board overseeing his care.

As his condition was unstable, the doctors could not say when it would be safe to move him for better treatment abroad.

Later, Professor Ashit Baran Adhikary, a heart surgeon at BSMMU, said Quader was “steadily improving, but is not out of danger”.
