Shops and shopping malls will remain shut after 8.0pm from Monday to save electricity in the face of energy and power price hikes globally.
State minister for Labour Monnujan Sufian made the announcement on Sunday after a meeting with businesses including shop owners held at her secretariat office in the city.
Citing business leaders, she said they assured that they will comply with the Prime Minister’s instruction in this regard.
The business leaders, however, requested the Prime Minister to allow activities for additional two hours to 10 pm from July 01 to July 10 ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, she said.
She said her ministry will send the request to the Prime Minister for her consideration.
