Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Thursday urged the country's female leaders to work together for enhancing the competence of women by arranging training programmes and workshops on ICT issues.
She made the call while addressing workshops, arranged for women leaders in Sylhet, Comilla, Feni and Bogra, through videoconferencing from her office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city, said a handout.
The workshops titled 'Women Participation in Democracy' were arranged by Bangladesh Alliance for Women Leadership.
"Today, women are proving their talents and competence in all sectors. Bangladesh is the role model for the development of women," she said.
Dr Shirin said it is not possible to gain the overall development leaving any quarter behind.
Under the bold leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the presence of women is now visible in all challenging professions, including armed forces, police, administration, judiciary, journalism and entrepreneurship, she said.
The women's contributions to decision-making process are also commendable, she added.
The speaker also replied to various questions from the women leaders and exchanged views with them, reports UNB.
