Cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe bin Mortaza will collect nomination papers of ruling Awami League on Sunday for contesting the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.
They confirmed the matter to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, at 12 noon over phone, UNB reported quoting Md Abu Naser, senior information officer of the ministry.
Shakib and Mashrafe will contest the elections from their Magura and Narail constituencies respectively.
Earlier in May, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal informed the media of the two cricket stars' likely contest in the upcoming general elections.
