Shajahan Khan assures of taking action over road crash

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Sunday said those responsible for the road crash that killed two students at airport road in Dhaka must face action as per law.

"Whoever will commit any crime must face action," he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat, reports UNB.

Earlier in the day, a bus ploughed through some college students as they were standing by the road in front of Kurmitola General Hospital, leaving two dead and 12 others injured.

Outrage by the accident, the students of Shaheed Ramizuddin Cantonment School and College took to the streets and vandalised several vehicles and set fire to two buses, including the killer one.

On July 21, North South University (NSU) student Md Saidur Rahman Payel was killed as he was thrown into a canal by the driver, supervisor and helper of a 'Hanif Paribahan' bus in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj on July 23.

Referring to Saturday's accident that claimed the lives of 33 people in India, Shajahan questioned whether anyone talks like this there.

"If you want to discuss about it (accident), we'll discuss it later," said the minister, also the Executive President of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers' Federation.
