Shahriar Kabir claims Zia was ISI agent

Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir has alleged that former president Ziaur Rahman was an agent of Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) prior to joining the Liberation War in 1971.

The eminent writer made the allegation while speaking at a discussion on the upcoming general election at the local press club in Brahmanbaria on Saturday.

Shahriar Kabir also said the commander of 'Z Force' had joined ISI in 1966, after which he was assigned to take part in the war as part of a mission.

The mission was to prevent development of Bangladesh if it had obtained independence, reports UNB.

Shahriar also said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's killers, including Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan and others had also participated in this mission. "It was part of their mission to spread pro-Pakistan and fundamentalist sentiments in the country after 1975," he added.

Shahriar Kabir also warned that the upcoming general election can be violent one as pre-meditated attacks can be made not only on the religious minority groups, but also on him.

Local members of Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee were, among others, present at the meeting.
