Severe heatwave likely to continue for next two days

Severe heatwave is sweeping over different parts of the country and will continue for the next two days until Wednesday, according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

However, no rain is likely to occur until April 28, the official said.

Talking to The Financial Express, Abdul Mannan, a BMD meteorologist, said severe heatwave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Jashore, Kushtia and will continue until Wednesday.

Mild to a moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Rangpur, Sylhet, Barishal divisions and remaining part of Rajshahi & Khulna divisions and it may continue, he said.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the meteorologist said.

The highest temperature was recorded 41.2 degrees Celsius at Jashore, which was recorded as the highest in seven years on Sunday, while the minimum temperature was 19.3 degrees Celsius at Sreemangal, he added.

The BMD in its 24-hour forecast, which was issued on Sunday evening, said the weather may remain dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.

The sun sets at 6:25 pm and rises at 5:28 am on Monday in Dhaka.
