Seven-member committee to review quota system

The government has formed a seven-member committee to review/reform/revoke the existing quota system in public service.

The cabinet secretary is the convener and the committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued notification, signed by secretary of the ministry Fayez Ahmed, on Monday night in this regard, reports BSS.

The other members of the committee are senior secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division, secretaries of the Finance Division, the Public Administration Ministry, the Liberation War Affairs Ministry and the Public Service Commission Secretariat and acting secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The committee will make recommendation with rationality of cancelation and reform in existing quota system if reform and revocation of the system are needed.

The notification also said the additional secretary (rules) of the public administration ministry will extend secretarial assistance to the committee and the body can co-opt any expert person if necessary.
