A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in word no-1 under Amtoli Pourasavha of Barguna on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mitu, 14, daughter of Shah Alam Miah of Gulishkhali village under Sadar upazila of the district. She was a student of class nine at Amtoli MU Girls Pilot High School.
Quoting the victim's relatives, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Amtoli Thana Md Shahidullah said Mitu committed suicide by hanging herself at her room but the cause behind the incident could not be known immediately.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with concerned thana in this connection, reports BSS.
