Satkhira district police is using drone-mounted cameras to ensure that people are maintaining social distancing and to detect people who made unnecessary gatherings in defiance of restrictions to prevent transmission of coronavirus.
Primarily drones are being used in Kolaroa upazila. Later, it will be used in other upazilas, said Satkhira superintendent of police Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, reports UNB.
Sheikh Munir Ul Gias, officer-in-charge of Kolaroa Police Station, said that public gathering spots are being detected by capturing photo and video through the drone cameras. Following the captured photos and videos, they instantly take action.
The SP said that they already are taking advantage of using drones. They will continue it to ensure that people stay home during restriction to prevent coronavirus transmission.
General people welcome the initiative of using drone, he added.
