Saida Muna joins Bangladesh High Commission in London

Saida Muna Tasneem has joined the Bangladesh High Commission in London as the new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom.

On Friday, she succeeded Md Nazmul Quaunine as the first woman diplomat to assume responsibility of this important post in the UK, according to a press release of Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Upon arrival, she was greeted at the Heathrow Airport by a senior representative of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK government, and by Acting High Commissioner Muhammad Zulqar Nain, the officers and senior staff members of Bangladesh High Commission in London and the Assistant High Commissions in Manchester and Birmingham.

Tasneem arrived in London on Monday last to take on her new assignment.

A career diplomat, Tasneem belongs to the 11th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993.

Throughout her distinguished career, she served in the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and the Bangladesh High Commission in London in various capacities. She was also the Director General for the UN and the External Publicity wings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Tasneem obtained her Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka in 1988 and achieved a Post Graduation Degree in Public Policy and Management from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Prior to the appointment, Tasneem was the ambassador of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Thailand, BSS reported.

Md Nazmul Quaunine succeeded Tasneem as the Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand.
