S Korea pledges to stand by Bangladesh to materialise Vision-2041

South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon on Sunday said his country will always stand by Bangladesh to materialise its Vision-2041 to turn the country into a developed one.

He made the remarks when he met President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in the evening.

President's Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

"South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon said he firmly believes that the vision taken by the Bangladesh government to be a middle income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041 will be materialised. His country will always stand by Bangladesh to this end," he said quoting the President.

Lee Nak-yon said South Korea gives priority to bilateral relations with Bangladesh and it wants to be a development partner to materialise its visions-2021 and 2041.

He said although his country started trade relationship with Bangladesh in the textile sector, it has been diversified subsequently.

The visiting South Korean Prime Minister also lauded the Bangladesh's development trend, says a BSS report.

About his meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Lee Nak-yon said the meeting was very fruitful, expressing the hope that the existing ties would strengthen in the future.

Mentioning that the bilateral relations between the two countries are expanding day by day, the President urged South Korea to enhance investment in Export Processing Zones of Bangladesh.

Describing South Korea as an important development partner of Bangladesh, he said its investment here is also increasing gradually.

"There're many similarities between the two countries in terms of development activities. South Korea's success in transforming their country into a developed one within a generation inspires us to steer the nation towards a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041," Hamid said.
