Law Minister Anisul Huq on Tuesday said repeated and barbaric sexual abuses on Rohingyas were reported in Rakhine State in Myanmar.
He said “When the Rohingyas were living in Rakhine State, they were abused sexually that many people witnessed and know very well”.
He made the remarks at a meeting with the United Nations secretary general’s special representative Pramila Patten at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital.
However, the conflicts in Bangladesh are free of sexual violence, he said.
The incumbent government has provided shelter and food to the Rohingyas and is also seeing solutions to these issues very responsibly and seriously, said Anisul.
Our government is discussing the matter with the Myanmar government at all levels time to time, he added.
