Rohingya relocation not to hamper repatriation: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said that the relocation of Rohingya people from Cox's Bazar to any other place will not hamper the repatriation process.

"The Rohingyas have been given shelter in Bangladesh as Myanmar's displaced people. So, the repatriation process won't be affected by whether they are kept at Bhashnachar or any other place," he said on Saturday while talking to the journalists at Kushtia Circuit House after a views-exchange meeting with the local leaders and activists of his party Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal.

He came up with the remarks against the backdrop of BNP leader Moudud Ahmed's comments that shifting Rohingyas to Bhashanchar would be suicidal.

Mentioning that the government has taken the relocation decision as keeping the Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar is not safe, Inu said those who are describing the decision as suicidal are doing politics with the Rohingya issue.
