Robbers looted four cows after killing its owner at Daspurkur in Rajshahi early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Majid, son of Abdul Aziz of the area.
Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station, said the robbers entered the cowshed of Abdul Majid and took away his four cows from the shed.
As Majid, who used to sleep at the courtyard of his house to guard his cows, woke up the robbers strangled him to death and left the scene.
On information, police recovered the body in the morning, reports UNB.
