Road crashes leave 10 dead in five districts

Ten people, including a minor boy, died and four others were injured in separate road accidents across the country on Wednesday.

In Tangail, four people were killed in a head-on collision between two trucks on Bangabandhu Bridge link road at Saratoil in Kalihati upazila.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet, reports UNB.

Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, said the accident took place in the area around 7 am when a Dhaka-bound stone-laden truck collided head on with a Dinajpur-bound one, leaving three people dead on the spot and another injured.

The injured was taken to Tangail General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police seized both the trucks, but could not arrest anyone, he added.

In Sylhet, three people were killed and three others injured as a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chandipul area in Dakkhin Surma upazila in the afternoon.

One of the deceased was identified as Zakir Hossain, 30, son of Chndarpur village of Gopalganj upazila in the district while identities of the others could not be known yet.

Officer-in-charge of Dakkhin Surma Police Station Khairul Fazal said, the accident took place when a truck hit the auto-rickshaw around 3.30pm, killing three people on the spot.

In the capital, a one-year-old boy was killed and his mother was severely injured as a speeding truck hit them while they were crossing road at Signboard intersection in the capital's Jatrabari around 5.30pm.

The injured child, son of Mahibul of Mymensingh district, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital(DMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Camp.

In Chattogram,a member of Border Guard Bangladesh(BGB) was killed after being hit by a truck at Oxygen More area in the port city at noon.

The deceased was identified as Md Aman Ullah, 28, a constable of North-East region of Sylhet BGB, and son of Mozammel Haque hailing from Purbadhalay area in Hathazari upazila in Chattogram district.

In Nilphamari,Ramjan Ali, a class-VII student, was killed as a Debiganj-bound- truck ran over him at Chilai village in Domar upazila headquarters in the morning.
