At least nine people were killed and as many injured in separate road accidents in Natore, Faridpur, Satkhira and Magura on Friday.
In Natore, three people were killed when a truck hit a goods-laden pick-up van at Ranigram in Gurudaspur upazila, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Kader, 60, Ruhul Amin, 45, and Rakibul Hasan, 24. All of them were residents of Tarash upazila of Sirajganj.
Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Gurudaspur Police Station, said the accident took place when the Natore-bound truck from Sirajganj rammed a stationary pick-up van from behind.
Three workers, travelling in the van, were killed on the spot, the OC said.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to a local hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, in Boraigram upazila a bus hit a motorcyclist and killed him on the spot in Razzak Mor area in the afternoon.
The victim's identity could not be known immediately.
In Faridpur, three people were killed and six others injured after a Boalmari-bound microbus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Khulna Highway around noon.
Two of the victims were identified as Aslam Molla, 50, and his sister Asia Begum, 47, hailing from Deuli village of Rupapat union in Boalmari upazila.
The accident took place near an army camp.
FM Nasim, officer-in-charge of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station, said they rescued the victims with the help of army personnel. The victims are members of same family.
Of them, two died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries at Faridpur Trauma Centre. The identity of the third victim could not be known immediately.
In Satkhira, A young man was killed after a truck hit a motorcycle in Kaliganj upazila.
The deceased was identified as Bappi, 27, son of Mominur Rahman of Ganeshpur village of Ratanpur Union of the upazila.
Bappi was going to Kaliganj from his village on a motorcycle when a truck hit him head-on at Pirojpur crossing at 11am.
He was critically injured, said Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station Razib Hasan.
When locals took him to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, the doctor shifted him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. But the young man died on the way.
In Magura, A speeding truck collided head-on with a human hauler at Wapda crossing area on Magura-Kamarkhali road in Sreepur upazila around noon.
Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said the accident left one dead and three injured.
The victims were on the human hauler.
The deceased was identified as Tapos Roy, 40, son of Parimal Roy of Faridpur's Boalmari upazila. The injured are being treated at Magura Sadar Hospital.
A case was filed with Sreepur Police Station in this regard.
