Road crashes claim six lives in two dists

At least six people were killed and eight others injured in Savar upazila of Dhaka and Senbagh upazila of Noakhali district on Monday morning.

In Savar, a pick-up hit a truck on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Boliarpur area of the upazila in the morning leaving three people dead and five others injured.

The deceased were identified as Engineer Zahurul Islam, 55, of Mir Akhter Group, pick-up driver Khalilur Rahman and Nurunnabi, reports UNB.

Police said the accident took place when the Dhaka-bound pick-up from Sirajganj hit the truck from behind leaving the three passengers of the van dead on the spot and five others injured.

On information, police recovered the bodies.

In another accident, three more people were killed following a head-on collision between a CNG run auto-rickshaw and a pick-van on Noakhali-Feni road in Senbagh upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Abu Taher, 35, Feroza Begum, 60 and her son Mohon, 35, reports the news agency.

Police said the accident occurred around 9:30am as the pick-up van collided with the auto-rickshaw, leaving the trio dead on the spot and three others injured.
