River erosion-victims of Noria upazila in Shariatpur will get support under the Vulnerable Grouping Feeding (VGF) programme until December 31.
Besides, 5000 bundles of corrugated iron (CI) sheets and Tk 12 million (Tk 1.20 crore) will be given for building their dormitories, Tk 5.0 million for mitigating emergency needs and 10,000 packets of dry foods were sanctioned for some 5000 river erosion-affected people of the area.
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya said this while visiting the erosion-affected people on Tuesday, reports BSS.
The minister said there is no scarcity of relief goods in the country and urged all to become more cordial to lessen their sufferings.
Maya, a senior ruling Awami League leader, also held a meeting with the upazila Disaster Management Committee to this end.
The minister directed all concerned to take necessary steps to ensure supply of food and drinking water, shelter and treatment to the victims on humanitarian ground.
Colonel (retd) Shawkat Ali, MP, BM Mozammel Haque, MP, Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Secretary Mohammad Shah Kamal, AL Organising Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, Advocate Navana AKhter, MP, and Director General of Disaster Management Directorate Syed MA Hasim, among others, accompanied the minister during the visit.
