Ride-sharing service ‘First Drive’ to start journey soon

Amid the growing popularity of mobile app-based ride sharing services, a local IT company is going to launch both the car and motorbike ride services through new mobile app called ‘First Drive’ on August 15 to bring more relief for city commuters.

The residents of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Savar will be able to enjoy the app-based transport service as the IT Company, Akash Technology Limited, has a plan to make First Drive service available in these areas by August 15.

Supti Roy, managing director of the IT Company, came up with the announcement at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday, reports UNB.

She said commuters in Dhaka will be able to avail both car and motorbike ride services on call through new mobile app First Drive, which will be downloadable from Google play store soon.

“We’ve already started registering private cars and motorbikes for providing the services. The drivers have also been registered and trained for the service to be made available for Dhaka people by August 15,” Supti said.

The company also has a plan to take the combined services of car and motorbike rides to Chittagong and Sylhet gradually, the Akash Technology managing director said.

She also said the First Drive app will be very user-friendly one. “I hope the users will feel comfortable using the application,” he said.

First Drive’s entry into the market comes at a time when people in Dhaka have already started taking benefits of such app-based transport services like Uber, Pathao, Amar Ride, Bahon, MUV, Chalo, Obhai, Obon, and Sam etc.

With their hassle-free round-the-clock services, the both local and international ride-sharing companies have brought some sort of relief to city commuters, mainly for the middle-class ones.

The app-based transport ride-sharing service was first introduced here by Uber in Dhaka in November, 2016.
