Retired Lakshmipur civil surgeon gets acquittal

Retired acting civil surgeon of Lakshmipur Salah Uddin Sharif has got acquittal from the charges over 'misconduct' with a additional deputy commissioner.

An additional magistrate's court ruled in his favour on Wednesday after he challenged the mobile court’s decision.

“The charges pressed against me have been proven false,” Salah Uddin Sharif told the media outside the court.

Lakshmipur’s Additional Deputy Commissioner or ADC Shaikh Murshidul Islam got into an argument on Monday with Sharif over entering the premises of a school, supervised by the district administration.

The argument led to a scuffle between the two.

Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila administration chief or UNO Md Nooruzzaman set up a mobile court immediately after the incident and jailed Sharif for three months on charges of ‘misconduct with a government official’.

On Tuesday, the pensioner secured bail from a magistrate’s court, reports bdnews24.

Following the incident, which was widely reported in the media, the High Court on Tuesday, ordered Islam and Nooruzzaman to appear before it on Dec 13. It has also told Sharif to be present that day.

Hours later, the government initiated measures against the ADC.

The public administration ministry in an order removed him from the district administration and attached him to the ministry as an officer on special duty (OSD).
