Responsible journalism stressed for sustainable media

New information communication technologies have transformed the functions and process of content creation distribution and consumption. But the role of media remains almost the same as it was in the past, and will remain equally significant.

Researchers and experts made this comment on the third day of the Dhaka Media Summit-2022, organised by the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, and the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), Bangladesh.

They emphasise on media’s role in producing quality content with social responsibilities by adopting new technologies to ensure their sustainability in transformed media ecology, according to a statement.

Speaking at a roundtable on Media and Identity Construction, Dr Gitiara Nasreen, a professor at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University, said media play an influential role in the construction of diverse identities. So, journalists must be careful in creating their content.    

On the third day of the summit, researchers from Indonesia, Thailand, and Bangladesh presented research papers at different research panels.  

The online summit features 10 associate partners, 58 research paper presentations by researchers and academics from 10 countries, five roundtable discussions, three masterclasses and one book promotion.
