Vice-chairman of Rangunia upazila parishad Monwara Begum died of respiratory problems in Chattogram city on Monday. She was 59.

She fell sick at her residence in the city’s Chawlkbazar area around 9:00pm and breathed her last on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said local union parishad Chairman Nur Kutubul Alam.

Monwara, wife of late Badiul Alam Talukdar, former vice-president of Chattogram North district Awami League, left behind two sons, four daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death, reports UNB.

In the last upazila parishad election, she was elected vice-chairman uncontested.

She is scheduled to be buried around 2:00pm today (Tuesday) following two namazs-e-janaza.
