Rainfall likely across Bangladesh on Eid day   

People in the capital and across the country may see mild to moderate rainfall on the day of Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday, according to an official of the met office.

However, there may be moderate to moderately heavy rainfall in Mymensingh, Rangpur, Sylhet and Rajshahi divisions, said Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

A low pressure is likely to be formed over the North Bay and adjoining areas that may trigger heavy rainfall in many parts of the country from July 25, he added.

The capital Dhaka experienced 4 millimetres(mm) of rain from 6:00pm to 12:00pm on Sunday while Cumillahad the highest 28 mm rain from 6:00pm to 12:00pm on the day, the met office records showed.

Rainfall measured at 1-11 mm is called light, according to meteorologists.

A 44-88 mm rainfall is considered heavy, 11-22 mm rainfall moderate and 23-43 mm rainfall moderately heavy rainfall.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur in many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogramand Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls in places over the country on Monday.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh, according to the met office bulletin.
