Rain halts life in city, elsewhere

Dhaka city as well as many other areas across the country witnessed frequent spells of rain from Thursday evening to Friday morning that disrupted normal life of the people.
The Met Office said the entire country including the capital is likely to experience sporadic rains until today (Saturday), as monsoon is active over the country and moderate to strong over North Bay.
Some 94 mm rain was recorded in Dhaka and the adjacent areas from Thursday 6.00 pm to Friday 6.00 am. A total of 14 mm rain was recorded from 6.00 am to 12.00 pm on Friday, and rain nearly stopped during the latter half of the day, according to Met Office.
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in Dhaka and most places across the country on Saturday, Md Shahinur Islam, duty officer of the office, said on Friday evening.
Light to moderate rain/ thunder shower accompanied by temporary gusty/ squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country, according to their bulletin.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged, and night temperature may fall by (1-2)° C over the country, it added.
