Rain brings respite from sweltering heat

A light rain drenched the capital on Monday afternoon, offering city dwellers relief from sweltering heat.

The Met office recorded 3 millimeters of rainfall until 3pm, said meteorologist Abdur Rahman.

"It's because of the influence of the nor'wester," he told UNB. The rain started around 3:00pm and continued for about 20 minutes.

A low lies over West Bengal to Northeast Bay across Bangladesh.

The Met office said rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind, are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet division.

It has also forecast moderately heavy to heavy rainfall and isolated hails at places across Bangladesh, reports UNB.
