The rail communication of Rajshahi with other parts of the country was restored after six-hour disruption following derailment of a freight train near Halidagachhi station of Charghat upazila of Rajshahi on Sunday.
Amjad Hossain, station manager of Rajshahi station, said that the Rajshahi-bound freight train from Ishwardi derailed 500 yard west side of Halidagachhi station at around 3:00am.
The derailment caused immense suffering to hundreds of passengers, as Dhaka-bound Silk City, Khulna-bound Sagordari Express, and Chilahati-bound Titumir Express trains remain stranded at Rajshahi station.
Later, a relief train from Ishwardi came to the spot and salvaged the train at around 9:00am, news agency UNB reported citing the official.
