Rail link between Khulna and rest of Bangladesh snapped

Khulna’s rail link with the rest of the country has been suspended as four tankers of an oil-carrying train derailed in Chuadanga in the wee hours of Monday, Prothom Alo reports.

The derailment took place near Uthli Railway Station in Chuadanga’s Jibonnagar upazila around 12:40am, according to the report.

Rescue efforts were on since 7:00am, the Bangla-language daily reports.

Quoting the rescue team, Uthli Railway Station Master Mohammad Ali, according to the Prothom Alo report, said rescue work could end and train movement resume by 12 noon.
