RAB will do anything to uproot drug abuse: Benzir

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Benzir Ahmed on Monday warned drug dealers, addicts and drug pedlar saying that the force will employ everything at its disposal to prevent drug abuses.

RAB DG said it while talking to journalists at a press brief held at RAB's Karwan Bazar media centre in the city, reports UNB.

Benzir asked the drug dealers to abandon the illegal trade saying that the elite force has been carrying out anti-drug drives across the country since May 4.

Terming illegal drug menace as a national problem, Benzir said "Drugs will have to be uprooted. Lawyers also need to cooperate so that no drug dealer can get away through loopholes of the law."

He said during the anti-drug drive from May 4, as many as 1,415 drug dealers and drug addicts were handed different terms of simple imprisonments by mobile courts.

The RAB DG sought cooperation from all walks of life including politicians, teachers, religious leaders, journalists, human rights activists, social activists and guardians to prevent illegal drugs.
