A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday destroyed around 1,100 maunds of chemically ripened mangoes and jailed six traders at the Mazar Road area of Mirpur-1 in the city.
Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam conducted the drive along with members of RAB-4 from 5:30am and it was continued till 4:30pm, said second-in-command of the RAB-4 battalion Maj Kazi Saifuddin Ahmed.
The mangoes were not naturally matured and chemicals were used which causes harm to consumers' health, Maj Saifuddin said.
The magistrate sentenced the six traders with different jail terms from three months to one year, he said, reports UNB.
