RAB arrests three in city for ‘spreading rumours’ on Facebook

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people from Dhaka city's Shyamoli on Thursday night for their alleged involvement in spreading rumours through posting false, fabricated and provocative remarks against the government on social networking site Facebook.

The arrestees are Wahedun Nabi, 47, son of Kazi Nurunnabi of Noakhali, Arafat Hakim alias Apu, 38, son of Azizul Haq of Chuadanga and Mohammad Zabid, 45, son of Rustom Ali of Mirpur in Dhaka, reports UNB.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-2 conducted a drive in the area and arrested them for spreading rumour on Facebook, said sources at RAB headquarters.

According to RAB, one of the arrestee, Mohammad Zabid was wanted in separate cases under Digital Security Act and Information Communication and Technology Act with Jatrabari, Paltan and Mirpur Police Stations.
