RAB arrests three human traffickers in Cumilla

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained the leader of a gang and his two associates allegedly involved in human trafficking to Europe from Cumilla.

The detainees were as Sohel Mazumdar, the ringleader and his two associates Zakir Hossain and Abu Noman, all residents of Cumilla, said Mohammad Sakib Hossain, company commander of RAB-11 (crime prevention 2) at a press briefing, reports UNB.

They were detained on Sunday from the Jangalia area of Sadar South upazila during a drive after receiving a complaint from a victim named Dulal Mia on September 9, he said.

At least eight complaints were lodged against Sohel in Cyprus for document forgery, fraud, and money laundering, he added.

Sohel used to take big amount of money from local people with a promise of sending them to Europe through Cyprus.

The detainees were handed over to Kotwali model police, said RAB.
