Quota protesters to observe strike on Sunday

Quota protestors will observe a two-hour strike in all colleges and universities across the country on Sunday.

They made the announcement on Saturday as their 24-hour ultimatum to the government for publishing a gazette abolishing quota system expired on Thursday, reports UNB.

Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Alliance convener Hasan Al Mamun on Saturday came up with the announcement from a press briefing in front of the central library of Dhaka University.

He said that the government failed to publish a gazette on abolishing quota system in government jobs as per the Prime Minister's announcement by Thursday.

"The two-hour strike will be observed at all colleges and universities from 11am to 1pm on Sunday," he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, they gave the government a 24-hour ultimatum to publish a gazette notification.

Besides, they also condemned the attack on the house of co-convener Jashim in Chittagong.
