A project for setting up adolescent clubs across the country was inaugurated at a function at Bangladesh Shishu Academy in Dhaka on Saturday.

Sate Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki formally launched the project, being implemented under the Department of Women Affairs, said an official release.

Women Affairs Department Director General Kazi Rowshon Akter presided over the inaugural function, which was addressed by Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum, Bangladesh Shishu Academy Selina Hossain and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner KM Ali Azam, among others, reports BSS.

Under the project, 4883 clubs will be set up across the country aiming at making aware the adolescents about their personal safety and ‘sexual and reproductive health and rights’ (SRHR) to prevent eve teasing, child marriage, gender based violence and so on, the release added.

Each club will have 30 members, including 20 girls and 10 boys.
