The government on Wednesday appointed forest department official Mollah Rezaul Karim as the new project director of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
Mollah Rezaul Karim will take charge apart from his current office of conservator of forests at wildlife and nature conservation circle, Dhaka, environment ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Md Jahidul Kabir was withdrawn from the position of project director of the safari park as part of measures to investigate the recent deaths of 11 zebras at the park, said the release.
The ministry earlier withdrew two other officials of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park on the same ground.
The decision was taken for an impartial investigation to reveal the real cause of death of the zebras at the park, said the ministry.
