Primary school headmaster dies of Covid-19

The headmaster of Maskata Government Primary School died of coronavirus at his residence at Maskata village in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Abdul Aziz, 55.

Dr Ashim Kumar, upazila health officer, said Aziz had tested positive on July 19 and since then he was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Khulna.

Recently, he came back to his village home without making full recovery and had been taking treatment at home, according to a UNB report.

Samples will now be collected from the family members of the deceased, the doctor said.

Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Humayun Kabir, said 26 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the district till Friday morning, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 515.

Twelve people have died so far of Covid-19 in the district while 301 people recovered.

The health authorities have so far confirmed 2,16,110 coronavirus cases until Thursday.

So far, 2,801 people have died of Covid-19 in the country.
