President visits Shilaidaha Kuthibari

President Md Abdul Hamid visited Shilaidaha Kuthibari in Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia on Saturday afternoon.

The visit of 'Rabindra Kuthibari' is a part of two-day Kushtia tour of the President Hamid.

President planted sapling of a Spanish Cherry (Bakul flower) at the pond-side of the eye-catching Kuthibari.

He also enjoyed several songs of Rabindranath there.

Shilaidaha Kuthibari is the country house of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore.

This is a 'must visit site' for Tagore enthusiasts, located some 20 kilometres away from Kushtia town.

First lady Rashid Hamid, the family members, local leaders, secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban accompanied the President here.

Earlier, President Hamid arrived at Kushtia at about 1:45 pm on Saturday.

According to UNB, the President is scheduled to visit the Lalon Academy and exchange views with the local representatives in the evening.

Abdul Hamid will address the fourth Convocation of Islamic University, Bangladesh, the first higher educational institution in the south-western part of the country, at 12:30 pm on Sunday.
