President urges expats to highlight BD’s achievements abroad

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday urged expatriate Bangladeshis to highlight the achievements of Bangladesh abroad.

The President said this when London Tower Hamlets Councillor and Speaker Ayas Miah met him at Bangabhaban in the city.

Hailing Ayas for being elected as Speaker of Tower Hamlets, President Hamid said Bangladesh is considered as a role model in many areas of socio-economic development.

He hoped that expatriate Bangladeshis would make positive contributions towards highlighting the image of Bangladesh abroad as its goodwill ambassadors.

During the meeting, Ayas Miah informed the President about Tower Hamlets' activities and the details of its Hamlets' role in local development and the process.

The Secretaries to the President and the Centre for NRB Chairperson MS Sekil Chowdhury were also present.

Labour Party Councillor Ayas Miah became the Speaker of Tower Hamlets and was elected the Speaker after his party won the landslide victory in Local Government election held on May 3 last.

Ayas Miah originally hails from Dhorarai village (Mollah Bari) under Doshghar Union in Bishawanath upozilla of Sylhet, reports UNB.
