President Abdul Hamid will join the largest-ever convocation of Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday.

The convocation will begin at the DU central playground at 11:30am but the graduates have been asked to enter the venue by 11am.

UNB, citing a DU press release on Friday, said the President will preside over the convocation ceremony while National Professor Anisuzzaman will deliver the convocation speech.

Record 21,111 students have registered for the 51st convocation.

Alongside, 96 students will get gold medals from the President while Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degrees will be conferred on 81 and 51 respectively.

Seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University will participate in the convocation for the first time from two venues -- Dhaka College and Eden Mohila College -- through digital technology.

DU Vice-chancellor M Akhtaruzzaman on Friday called for all-out cooperation from all to make the convocation a success.

The DU administration said all preparations have already been completed to hold the convocation in a festive mood.
