President Abdul Hamid has expressed his deep shock and condolences over the death of Leader of Opposition in Parliament and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad.
In a condolence message, the president prayed for his departed soul and expressed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also expressed her shock over the death of the opposition leader Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, as per a bdnews24.com report.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her deep shock and sorrow on the death of the opposition leader Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad,” said the prime minister’s press wing in a statement.
“Sheikh Hasina recalled the constructive role Ershad played as the chief of the opposition in the parliament,” the statement said.
Ershad, who has been on life support for the last 10 days, breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka around 7:45am on Sunday.
The 90-year-old deposed military dictator has been suffering from myelodysplastic syndrome or a low-level of haemoglobin in his blood for long.
