President M Abdul Hamid on Saturday left Dhaka for London for health check-up and treatment of eyes.

“A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the President took off from Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport at 10:55 am,” President’s Assistant Press Secretary (APS) Imranul Hasan told the media.

Abdul Hamid is scheduled to have his check-up at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London, said a BSS news report.

Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, dean of diplomatic corps and ambassador of Vatican to Bangladesh, British high commissioner in Dhaka, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three services, prime minister’s principal secretary, inspector general of police (IGP), foreign secretary, and civil and military high officials concerned saw him off at the VVIP Lounge of the airport.

“The President is expected to return home on July 15,” the APS added.

Earlier in October 2017, the 74-year-old President Hamid also underwent health check-up in London as he is suffering from Glaucoma since long.
