President Md Abdul Hamid has extended warm congratulations to countrymen living at home and abroad on the eve of victory day.
Abdul Hamid paid his deep homage, through a message on Friday, to the valiant freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifice in the war of liberation for the cause of country's independence.
The President recalled the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a message on Friday.
Abdul Hamid said Bangabandhu's boundless sacrifices, uncompromising and charismatic leadership contributed to the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign state in world.
"The emergence of military autocracy and undemocratic government came into being after the assassination of Father of the Nation on 15 August in 1975 that hindered the flourishing of democratic pluralism," the President said.
Abdul Hamid said after a long struggle, democratic government has now been established in the country.
"The mega projects like the Padma Bridge are being implemented with our own resources," he said.
Mentioning other projects like the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and Bangabandhu Satellite launching, the President said "This will be a new horizon for the development of telecommunication sector."
Abdul Hamid extended his thanks to UNESCO for the recognition of Bangabandhu's 7th March speech as a world's important documentary heritage.
This recognition is the source of inspiration and a great pride for Bangali Nation, he added.
The government has set 'Vision 2021' and 'Vision 2041' for transforming Bangladesh into a developed country, Abdul Hamid added.
The President said "I am hopeful that we would be able to materialise the visions within the stipulated time by utilising our huge human resources and information technology, Insha Allah."
He also expressed his hope to turn Bangladesh into a hunger and poverty free prosperous 'Sonar Bangla' (Golden Bengal) as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
